Children’s Sabbath Celebration
The National Observance of the Children’s Sabbath is always celebrated on the third weekend in October. This year it will be celebrated October 20-22. Celebrating its 50th year, this multi-faith weekend engages places of worship all across the country. Using prayers, worship, education programs, and action the hope is those who attend these celebrations will more about the urgent problems facing our nation’s children. Using sacred texts and teachings that call us all to love and protect children,Children’s Sabbath encourages communities to respond with outreach and advocacy, and, most importantly, inspire new, year-round action to improve the lives of children.
There are many ways to engage celebrating this event. The Children’s Defense Fund has many resources available making integrating this opportunity into your faith community easy.
