A Celebration of Homecoming and Healing: Veteran’s Service at St. John’s, Fayetteville

The Episcopal churches of Fayetteville and the Upper Cape Fear Deanery together with the Episcopalians at Fort Bragg will gather for a service of support for our Veterans on Wednesday, Nov. 8th at 5:30 PM at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 302 Green Street, Fayetteville, NC. The service will include healing, Holy Eucharist and a meditation offered by Ben Shepherd.

Lieutenant COL (Ret) Ben Shepherd was born in Louisville, Kentucky and raised in Reidsville, North Carolina. After attending the United States Military Academy at West Point, Ben served 22 years as a Field Artillery Officer, deploying four times and being stationed overseas in Italy, Germany, and Saudi Arabia. Ben was stationed at Fort Liberty from 2002- 2006 and 2018-2022. In his final assignment, Ben commanded 3rd Battalion 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment in 1st Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division. Ben, his wife Lizzie, and their three daughters Betsy (18), Mary Milam, (16), and Campbell (14) have attended St. John’s since 2018.
Members of the Fayetteville and Fort Liberty communities and the Diocese of East Carolina are encouraged to attend. Dinner will be provided at no charge for veterans and for those on active duty in the military. Donations will be accepted to defer the cost of the dinner.
