Frederick nació en Bogotá, Colombia y sus padres se conocieron cuando estaban en la Universidad Americana en Washington D.C. Su padre trabajó en posiciones bancarias y gubernamentales colombianas así que la familia tuvo que viajar durante los conflictos colombianos de los años ochenta. Frederick creció en Maryland, Nueva York, y finalmente vivió con sus abuelos en Santa Bárbara, California durante sus años en la escuela secundaria. Después de la escuela secundaria, Frederick fue a la Universidad de San Andrés en Escocia seguido por una carrera bancaria. Los acontecimientos del 11 de septiembre del 2001 lo alertaron al llamado de servir en el ministerio y cambiar su carrera. Frederick se inscribió en el Seminario Teológico de Virginia, se graduó, y tomó su primer puesto en la Diócesis de Carolina del Norte, donde pasó 4 años y medio, antes de dirigirse a la Diócesis de Texas. A Frederick le encanta mantenerse activo, leer, nadar, sus dos perras, y le gusta ir al teatro.

The Rev’d Skip Walker

Ministry Coordinator with Peoples of African Descent

As a part of this position, Fr. Skip Walker serves as priest-in-charge with two of East Carolina’s historic black congregations, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Wilmington and St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church in Fayetteville. In his work with the wider diocese, Skip supports the leadership of each of the diocese’s six historic black congregations and will support the people and staff of the diocesan in striving to live into the fourth of our mission priorities, which proclaims that we have discerned that God’s Holy Spirit is calling us to “heal by advocating for justice and peace for all of God’s children, working together to remove obstacles that prevent equitable access to resources, while building bridges of reconciliation for the divisions between us.”
